Homework
MathMath homework will be sent home as needed. Please allow your child to pace themselves when doing their math (this will allow them to feel less pressure:). It will be in their take home folder. Math homework is due back the next day unless otherwise stated!
Science/Social Studies (IB UNITS)Most of this is completed in class. However, there may be some projects that will be done at home instead of school. These projects will be counted as a grade and are due at the designated time. Projects turned in late without a doctor's excuse will have a 5 point deduction per late day. Please allow your child to complete these projects with appropriate help from an adult. I will send home information when we complete these activities :) IB work will be kept in their unit folder until the end of the unit. At this time, the entire unit folder will be sent home. Periodically, work or projects will be kept to place in their portfolio that travels
WritingFor the rest of the year, we will be doing our writing assignments in class unless otherwise stated.

ReadingPlease read with your child every night. This is very important in 2nd grade. You can ask them questions about what they are reading or you can even read to them. This will allow them to hear and see how experienced readers read. Also, I may send home notes in the newsletter about them bringing some items for in-class work. This is counted as part of their homework :)
Please make sure that you help your child complete the Word Study homework for each night. This will help your child to remember the sounds as well as the correct column :) LanguageWe will not have much language homework. This is done in class so that I can monitor comprehension of the subject. We will usually have a quiz based on the material that was covered during that time.
